WTC Accra Promotes Chinese Import Fair

Management of the World Trade Center (WTC) Accra has organized a day’s promotional event for the Chinese Import and Export Fair, popularly known as Canton Fair at the Convention Centre of the WTC in Accra.

In her address on Tuesday, August 14, Managing Director of the WTC Accra, Jane Reindorf-Attoh, indicated that the promotion of the Canton Fair falls in line with efforts to provide local businesses with opportunities across the globe.

She said the Canton Fair, which is the largest trade show in China and one of the largest in the world, is a platform for thousands of merchants to source goods for their business.

Madam Reindorf-Attoh also stressed that the WTC Accra is a proactive trade development organization that aims to strengthen local businesses by providing them with the worldwide WTCA network to reach international markets through trade and exhibition promotion in and outbound trade missions and trade education and market research.

Head of Economic and Commercial Section at the Chinese Embassy, Chai Zhijing, said the Canton Fair which would be held in China in November would for the first time have an import exhibition during which products from other countries would be sold on the Chinese market.

He said this would afford Ghanaian businesses the opportunity to showcase their products to the world on the Chinese market.

He urged Ghanaian business owners to take full advantage of the opportunities in order to benefit.

Kobena Ebo Quaison, Director of Export, Trade and Investment at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, said his ministry would attend the fair to tell the Ghanaian trade and investment story to attract Chinese investors.
