A scene during the prayer session
The Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II has donated a cow for the special prayers organized for Hajj 2019 at the instance of the Chairman of the Ghana Hajj Board, Sheikh I.C. Quaye. The Yaa Naa made the donation through an emissary – Sheikh Seebaway Zakariah – of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science And Technology (KNUST).
The donation by the Overlord of Dagbon included a request through Sheikh I.C. Quaye for the construction of a stadium in Dagbon to be named Abudani Sports and a Peace Centre – both of which would go a long way to sustain the restoration of peace in Dagbon.
Sheikh Seebaway conveyed the Dagbon Overlord’s charitable thoughts to the chairman of the Hajj Board and prayed for a successful Hajj 2019.
The prayer session was held last Friday during which Sheikh I.C. Quaye prayed for the sustenance of the restored peace in Dagbon which, according to him, was made possible when God bestowed the power to do so through President Akufo-Addo and the prayers of the good people of Ghana.
He recalled his frequent visits to Dagbon even before the restoration of peace and charged all to support the Overlord to execute his traditional mandate to his subjects.
“The letter which accompanied the donation of the cow was full of good tidings and well wishes to President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. May God grant them wisdom to rule,” he said.
On Hajj 2019, Sheikh I.C. Quaye said all was set for a successful season, adding that the requests for the change in accommodation at one of the important stations in the performance of the religious rites, Minna, had been granted by the Saudi authorities. He said that had been ascertained by an official of the Hajj Board, Farouk Hamza, who had just returned from Saudi Arabia. “The advance team of Hajj managers had departed for Saudi Arabia to prepare the grounds for the arrival of Ghanaian pilgrims,” he disclosed.
He added that sufficient efforts had been put in place to ensure a successful Hajj this year.
On the recent conference held in Accra on religious minorities, he said it was a success, as it brought together both Christians and their Muslim counterparts together.
He prayed for understanding between members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), but was quick to advise that all should eschew lies and stick to the truth.
The prayer session brought together Islamic clerics from various parts of the country, some of whom took turns to pray for the nation and the pending Hajj at Sheikh I.C. Quaye’s residence in Accra.
