Adongo Angelous Akurugu

Seventeen-year-old Adongo Angelous Akurugu has been named among the referees for the 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship, set for April 21–26 in Accra.

A standout product of the Catch Them Young Refereeing Project, Adongo hails from Navrongo in the Upper East Region and currently studies at Navrongo Senior High School.

Since his discovery, he has officiated at key competitions including the KGL U-17 tournament, the Division One League Super Cup in Abrankese and Nsoatre, and last year’s West African Football Union (WAFU) Africa Schools Qualifiers in Niger.

Most recently, he took charge of the MTN FA Cup quarterfinal between Attram De Visser and PAC Academy at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Adongo’s consistent performances mark him as a rising star in African refereeing, with this latest appointment highlighting his growing reputation on the continental stage.
