CITEG Endorses Bawumia

Alex Kwaku Tetteh, National Chairman, CITEG

CITIZENS EYE Ghana (CITEG), a pro- New Patriotic Party (NPP) Civil Society Organization (CSO), has thrown its weight behind the flagbearer of the party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as he leads the party into this year’s elections.

The group, in the run-up to the party’s primaries held last year, had supported Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who eventually lost to the Vice President Dr. Bawumia.

In a latest development, the group has declared its support for Dr. Bawumia, announcing the declaration at a press conference in Accra. It cited the party’s resolve of retaining political power beyond eight years as its key reason.

“We all know the outcome of the NPP flagbearership elections. Our preferred candidate did not win although he performed creditably as a first-time runner. As a CSO whose ideologies are in tune with the NPP, it is our firm belief that we put the internal party contest behind us and focus on our main objective of ‘Breaking the 8’ by winning the December presidential and parliamentary elections”, announced, Alex Kwaku Tetteh, the group’s National Chairman.

He added, “We know and can back it with concrete and verifiable evidence that the NPP government under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has performed better in developing this country than the PNDC and the NDC and any other government under this Fourth Republic.”

According to the group, it has studied “deeply” and “thoroughly”, the 70 policies that have been outlined by Dr. Mahumudu Bawumia, and is convinced of his agenda to further develop Ghana when given the mandate, saying his knowledge, experience, meekness and humble posture, tolerance, and non-negotiable desire to see Ghana prosper, makes him a more viable candidate.

“We are convinced beyond all reasonable doubt that, it is only Dr. Bawumia who can easily lead the NPP to break the 8 and retain political power in the forthcoming elections on December 7, 2024,” the group iterated through its National Chairman.

CITEG went on to call on supporters of Kennedy Agyapong as well as all members of the party – both in Ghana and abroad – to rally behind Dr. Bawumia and campaign vigorously for him in every corner across the country to secure victory for him and the NPP on December 7.

“We members of Citizen Eye Ghana, who supported and campaigned for Hon. Ken Agyapong now declare our unwavering support for Dr. Bawumia and pledge to campaign for him till victory is achieved on December 7,” he asserted.
