Zoomlion Workers Serve Strike Notice

A section of the workers

Zoomlion workers in the Chereponi District of the Northern Region have served notice that they would lay down their tools if their outstanding salaries were not paid to them.

The workers alleged that money had been provided for the payment of their salaries but the DCE for the area, Tahidu Abdul Razak, had deliberately put an embargo on it.

They claimed that the DCE, upon assuming office, employed over 200 new sanitation workers.

According to the aggrieved workers, the new employees had since been paid their salaries and imputed political maneuvering to the said payments.

The workers told DAILY GUIDE that when the regional director of Zoomlion was contacted on the delay in the payment of their salaries, he said the money had duly been made available but the DCE was yet to release it.

They have therefore, entreated the authorities from the headquarters of the waste management company to intervene else they would hit the streets of Chereponi to register their displeasure and demand the payment.

Efforts to contact Mr Tahidu Abdul Razak proved futile.
