120 Days In Office: Same Old John ‘Dead Goat’ Mahama, Nothing Has Changed

The writer

President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) should be one of the most flawless and faultless presidents in the history of the country because of his experience of serving as President for six years and eight years as opposition leader. We were all expecting a different leadership from him, but unfortunately, we are experiencing the same old ‘dead goat’ we have known him to be, nothing has changed.

In his first 120 days, we have seen the sacking of over 12,000 public sector workers by the approval of the President’s Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah. This action defeats his 24-hour economy campaign promise.

In these 120 days, we have experienced the return of his trademark erratic power supply (dumsor). This has led to the burning and destruction of markets, homes, and businesses.

We have seen the excessive abuse of power, especially from national security officials and NDC known vigilante groups, attacking homes and offices of former public servants.

The typical John ‘dead goat’ Mahama always robs Peter to pay Paul, hence the increment of utility bills after the cancellation of some taxes by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government. An example is the 14% increment of light bills and water bills going up by 4.02%. All these coupled with the introduction of tourism tax.

We have seen Galamsey emboldened as water bodies in the country are being polluted as NDC officials are seen protecting people involved in these destructions. The government’s failure to prosecute foreign nationals, especially Chinese involved on Galamsey, and rather opting for extradition is a big U-turn from what they said when they were in opposition.

In these 120 days, cocaine scandals are swallowing the government with the white substance worth millions of dollars missing in mysterious ways.  Interestingly, government communications bureau are seen defending it all over.

We have seen the ‘flying’ of over 1350 ECG containers from our ports without traces with efforts of retrieving them dying off day by day.

We have also seen the worsening situation of the Bawku conflict with a death toll hitting over 400 due to the politicisation of the situation during the just ended election campaign period. This happened due to the insensitivity and quest for political power at all cost by the NDC.

This is the real, actual, and accurate account of the NDC’s 120 days in office. The NDC has so far proven to be clueless in handling the affairs of the country.
