The Ministry of Trade and Industry, in collaboration with the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council, has launched the District Implementation Support Teams that have been tasked to coordinate and monitor each district enterprise project under the government’s ‘One District, One Factory’ policy in Koforidua.

Eric Kwakye Darfour, Eastern Regional Minister, in his welcome address at the launch, expressed optimism about the ‘1D1F’ imitative of the government and called for support for the Ministry of Trade and Industry and other stakeholders, who are implementing the policy.

The Regional Minister said his outfit had put together a team of experts from both the public and private sectors to fashion out a framework to strategically harmonise all investments in the region.

He said the idea was to ensure the harmonization and sustainable utilization of the region’s natural resources, infrastructure, as well as human resources to improve the lives of Ghanaians.

Mr Darfour added that the Eastern Regional Investments Coordination for Sustainable Industrial Programme was established in 2017 with the objective of bridging the gap between the Regional Coordinating Council and the assemblies with respect to the flow of information on investment potentials and opportunities.”

The Regional Minister said the Trade and Industry Ministry was prepared to help realize the President’s ‘1D1F’ vision.

Over 40 projects have been profiled in the maiden ERICSIP in publication ranging from agriculture, tourism, agro processing, manufacturing and construction.

Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Robert Ahomka Lindsay, noted that government had put measures in place to implement the projects across the country soon.

He, however, encouraged the MMDCEs in the region, who participated in the workshop and the stakeholders to ensure the development of a framework to ensure the successful implementation of the policy.
