2 Nabbed For Stealing Royal Regalia

The suspects holding some of the stolen Royal regalia

The Accra Regional Police Command has apprehended two men who are suspected to have stolen regalia and ornaments belonging to some traditional leaders.

The two identified as Richard Kwabena Manu, 21 and Issifu Eliasu, 19, had in their possessing two big sacks of royal regalia and were ready to sell them to prospective buyers at Agbogbloshie when police accosted them.

They have since refused to disclose to the police the source of the items and are still in police custody assisting in investigations.

The police are, consequently, appealing to individuals to help locate the owner of the stolen items.

The Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Effia Tenge, who narrated the story to DAILY GUIDE, said the two were arrested on October 4, 2016 at Agbogbloshie market, upon a tip off.

The items included royal sandals for chiefs, traditional cloth for chiefs, artificial gold platted swords and necklaces.

They were concealed in two big fertilizer bags and when suspects were questioned, they could not provide tangible answers and the police suspected the items may be stolen.

Upon further interrogation, the suspects claimed they stole the items at Kasoa on the pedestrian lane.

ASP Tenge has therefore appealed to the public, especially, anyone whose items have been stolen to report at the Regional Police Command
