The police in the Western Region have arrested two Nigerians who allegedly robbed a businessman of an amount of GH¢33,000 in Takoradi yesterday.
The businessman had just cashed the money from the Takoradi branch of Prudential Bank when he was attacked.
The suspects reportedly stole the victim’s money from his vehicle and managed to escape; but luck eluded them when they were arrested at the Inchaban barrier on the Takoradi-Accra main road.
They are Abidoye Adekunle, 47 and Alhaji Sulimon Olaoluwa, 44.
Confirming the incident to DAILY GUIDE, DSP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer, said the incident occurred at about 2:00 pm.
According to her, the Western Regional Police Information Room had a distress call from one Michael Agyekum, a businessman, that two men with a light blue Toyota Matrix vehicle with a Nigerian registered number plate had stolen GH¢33,000 from his vehicle after cashing it from the Prudential Bank, Takoradi branch.
The PRO said that later, the Toyota Matrix with registration number EKY 878 FB, was intercepted by men on duty at the Inchaban police barrier.
She disclosed that the GH¢33,000 was retrieved from the suspects, who are currently in police custody.
