The wait is finally over as the biggest carnival and masquerade show, Oguaa Fetu Afahye in the Central Region begins with a spectacular Akwaaba Homecoming Carnival.
The highly anticipated event promises to be an unforgettable experience, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Oguaa people.
The carnival, which started at 4 pm Monday, September 2, 2024, with parade from Aggrey Junction to London Bridge, featuring an array of colorful masquerades, vibrant music, and energetic dance performances.
This year’s edition promises to be bigger and better, with an expected large turnout of revelers from across the continent.
Oguaa Fetu Afahye, which translates to “Oguaa Festival” in the local dialect, has a rich history dating back to the 17th century.
The festival was originally celebrated to commemorate the migration of the Oguaa people from their ancestral home to their current location.
Over the years, it has evolved into a grand celebration of culture, music, and art.
The Akwaaba Homecoming Carnival, a brainchild of the Oguaa Traditional Council, aims to promote unity, cultural exchange, and tourism in the region.
Last year’s edition saw thousands of participants and spectators alike, and this year’s event is expected to surpass that number.
