The suspects
Three persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement in a gold robbery incident at Wassa Afransie in the Western Region.
The three suspects, including a Nigerian national, were apprehended by the Western Central Regional Police Command.

DCOP Desmond Boampong, the Regional Police Commander, narrated that the alleged robbery incident happened on April 4, 2025.
He said it occurred when Kofi Appiah, a driver for the company and another employee, Emmanuel Adu, were returning from Wassa Ayiem after collecting a quantity of gold from a client when armed men ambushed them, firing warning shots.
He noted that the suspects made away with 14 pounds of gold, two mobile phones, and an unregistered Toyota Corolla vehicle, which was later abandoned in a nearby community.
He said after further investigations, Kofi Appiah, the driver, was apprehended at his Wassa Akropong residence on April 21, 2025.
DCOP Boampong added that the police later picked up the other two suspects at their hideouts.
The suspects were found in possession of a Jojef pump action gun with butt number 168316, a Calymm PDS pistol without a serial number, 25 rounds of 9mm ammunition, an AA cartridge and two G3 ammunitions.
The rest were a locally manufactured pistol, and an amount of GH¢65,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from the robbery.
