300 Widows Pray For Manhyia South MP

Napo presenting a piece of cloth to a widow

A PROGRAMME aimed at presenting free pieces of cloth to 300 widows in the Manhyia South Constituency was nearly turned into a prayer session.

This was after some of the beneficiaries decided to openly pray for their Member of Parliament (MP) for being a caring and a proactive leader.

Dr. Mathew Opoku-Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, the Manhyia South MP, was speechless when the widows openly prayed fervently for him.

Napo was presenting pieces of cloth of different colours to the 300 widows as a kind gesture. But most of the beneficiaries, who seemed touched by the MP’s largesse, openly prayed for him for God’s blessings.

“We are only praying to God to prolong his life and also bless and grant him with all his heart’s desires because he cares for the widow.

“This is not the first time that he has been a blessing to us and we know God will bless him,” one Maame Kwartemaa said.

In his succinct remarks, Napo stated that it is the duty of the public to contribute to help improve the lives of widows.

He lambasted politicians that have tagged Lydia Alhassan, the newly elected Ayawaso West Wuogon MP, as a ‘bloody widow’.

“This ‘bloody widow’ tag is the highest form of insult. Someone who has just lost her husband doesn’t deserve this insult. Those who hurled insults at that innocent woman during that difficult time of her life should bow their heads in shame.

“I took that ‘bloody widow’ insult personal because my mother is also a widow,” Napo, who sounded peeved, stated.

According to him, Ghanaians should always accord respect to widows, saying “they don’t deserve to be insulted and disrespected.”

The MP, who also made other different donations to some of his constituents that same day, said he was ever committed to serving his people.
