Owing to the spate of crime in Tema, the Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested about 38 suspected drug peddlers, including a woman, at Waterland in Tema Newtown.
The operation, according to the police, is to clamp down on the activities of miscreants in Tema and its environs ahead the Christmas festivities.
The police retrieved dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, mobile phones and other personal belongings.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Joseph Benefo Darkwah, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Tema Regional Police Command, the suspects, who were arrested on November 13, 2018, would be screened and those found culpable would be prosecuted.
“The operation, which would be sustained, before, during and after the Yuletide is to clamp down on the activities of miscreants in Tema and its environs,” he added.
DSP Darkwah indicated that the dried leaves would be forwarded to the Police forensic laboratory for examination.
