The Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC), in collaboration with the Centre for Policy Development (CPD) and the University for Development Studies (UDS), has organised the 3rd Northern Trade, Industry, and Investment Summit (NTIS) in Tamale in the Northern Region.

The event was supported by several national institutions, including the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Ghana Exim Bank, Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA), Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC), Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

The summit aims to empower the private sector, particularly Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), by focusing on capacity building, production expansion, export promotion, and value addition to non-traditional export products to drive economic development and job creation in Northern Ghana.

Held under the theme “Enhancing Trade and Industrial Growth Through Strategic Investment and Accelerated Export,” the event attracted over 800 participants from various industries across the country.

Alhaji Ishmeal Yahuza, Executive Director of CPD, said the summit seeks to accelerate trade and industrial growth while attracting investment to the northern ecological zone. He stressed the need to bridge the economic gap between the North and South through expanded industrial activities.

The Northern Regional Minister, Ali Adolf John, underscored the summit’s role in fostering dialogue and collaboration to enhance trade, industrial productivity, and investment opportunities.

He outlined government initiatives, including the Big Push Infrastructure Programme and the Export Ghana Policy, and underscored the importance of partnerships among the private sector, academia, and development partners.

The summit featured a range of activities, including a culturally rich durbar, business seminars, exhibitions, a career fair, and a business awards night to climax the event.
