Some 51 students have passed out from the Institute of Paralegal Training and Leadership Studies (IPLS) after taking a course in Professional Executive Masters in Alternative Disputes Resolution (ADR) and Executive Masters in General Paralegal Studies.

Their studies will help them to handle and mediate disputes in a multi-skilled society.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony in Accra, President of the Ghana National Association of ADR Practitioners (GNAAP), Daniel Owusu-Koranteng, stressed the need for people to get education in legal and alternative dispute resolution to help deal with conflicts in society.

According to him, professional skills are needed by any individual or professional of any field to handle and deal with conflicts, and called on people to submit themselves for the 15-week paralegal training offer by the institute.

He said admission is open to all and sundry, including people in public service, social services, industrial relations, medical field, religious service and the judiciary service.

The Executive Director of the IPLS, JohannaAbenaYankson, said the institute was collaborating with the Global Network Group (GNG) to develop an international paralegal register for paralegal practitioners across the world.

She indicated that the institute had introduced short courses that are focused on building the  capacity of people, adding that the contacts hours had also been increased from 120 (15 days) to 160 hours (20 days), starting from February 6, 2021.

She said the institute is an accredited agency of Alternative Disputes Resolution (ADR) International, a subsidiary of Global Network Group, which is an independent international certification body for mediators, negotiators, arbitrators and adjudicators certified by Lloyds Register ISO 9001.
