The AN-NISSAA Foundation, an Islamic Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), organized a special dinner on Saturday at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra in honour of Muslim couples in Ghana.
President of AN-NISSAA Foundation, Rukaya Iddriss said the post-Ramadan networking dinner was put together to enable Muslim couples, who went through the month-long Ramadan prayers and fasting, to socialize in a relaxed atmosphere.
Counseling Muslim couples on the importance of marriage at the event which was themed: ‘Striving Towards a Fulfilling Marriage,’ Azara Haroun, a chartered banker, explained that Islam as a religion “is a strong advocate of marriage.”
According to her, “The general purpose of marriage is that both sexes can provide company to each other, love, procreate and live in peace and tranquility per the commandments of Allah.”
“How then are some Muslim couples finding this tranquility in their marriage while many others seem to be having miserable lives?” she quizzed.
She said emphatically that happy couples obey Allah and focus on their relationships.
“They seek love that will last beyond this lifetime into the thereafter where they can live in eternal happiness, having earned Allah’s pleasure together on earth, she added.
She also stressed the importance of communication in marriage, saying “Happy Muslim couples talk like best friends in good times and in conflict. In good times, they wait to tell each other about their day, they joke, laugh, share ideas and flirt.”
The AN-NISSAA Foundation, a professional Muslim Women organization was established in 2004 with the objective of improving the lives of the less privileged in society, especially women and children, among others.
The Foundation, since its establishment, has undertaken a number of projects and sponsored some brilliant but needy Muslim youth at the secondary and tertiary levels.
