The queen mother of Asebu, Nana Emissimakese, playing the drum, as others look on
An estate developer in Accra, Benjamin Kofi Annan, has a donated set of computers and its accessories as well as a set of band worth GH¢40,000 to the Asebu D/A Basic School in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) District of the Central Region.
He also donated an amount of GH¢5,000 to enable the school to undertake renovation on a building which would be used as an information communication technology (ICT) centre for the school.
Making the presentation, Mr Annan said the donation was in fulfillment of a promise he made to the school during the celebration of the school’s 70th anniversary in March 2016.
The estate developer stated that the donation formed part of his social responsibility towards the people in his area and, therefore, charged the students to take their studies seriously in order for them to become responsible people in future.
He urged the students to use the computers positively, citing an instance where some students use computers to watch pornographic films which turn to affect them negatively.
Headmaster of D/A Basic School, E.O Darkwa, thanked Mr Annan for the kind gesture, adding the timely intervention of the items would rekindle the zeal and spirit of patriotism in the people of Asebu.
On security, Mr Darkwa hinted that the school has no night security person, hence “making these valuable facilities in the school difficult to keep them in safe custody.”
He expressed concern about the way the school land had not been properly documented to save it from encroachers.
The headmaster called for an establishment of an ultra-modern computer laboratory to house the computers donated to them as well as a construction of a library to enhance academic and research activities at the school.
