Okyeame Kwame
Okyeame Kwame has expressed his profound gratitude to all sponsors and fans for immensely contributing towards the huge success of his educational campaign on hepatitis B.
Okyeame Kwame and OKF last Friday organised an educational campaign on hepatitis B as well as free screening exercises of the disease for more than 1,000 people at the premises of the Ghana Post in Ho in the Volta Region.
Okyeame Kwame, the brain behind the Okyeame Kwame Foundation, in a chat with BEATWAVES after the free screening exercise, commended Ghanaians, corporate bodies and his fans for accepting him as a brand.
The rapper also used the opportunity to also thank all his fans for supporting him and advised them to take hepatitis B screening very seriously “because hepatitis B is a preventable disease and AIDS is not.”
He explained that hepatitis B is a potentially life-threatening blood-borne disease of the liver which is transmitted primarily by sexual activity or exposure to blood. About 20 percent of those infected progress to develop chronic liver disease.
Since 2001 when the award-winning hiplife musician set up the foundation to complement national efforts against hepatitis B, it had screened approximately 30,000 Ghanaians nationwide free-of-charge.
