St Anne Donates Blood

Volunteers donating blood during the exercise

The parishioners of St Anne and Joachim Catholic Church at Teshie, in partnership with the National Blood Service, on Sunday organised a blood donation exercise aimed at stocking the blood service to save lives at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH).

The exercise which attracted hundreds of patrons was part of the parish youth council programme to annually help replenish stock at the blood bank.

Educating the congregation on blood donation, Rev Father Clement Wilson, the parish priest, said blood donation is their social responsibility and appealed to parishioners to voluntarily donate blood to save lives.

He also stated that there was an increasing number of parishioners and outsiders who come to the parish office in request for introductory letters for blood to save the lives of their family in case of emergencies.

“There is, therefore, the need to buffer the stock in other to meet these demand,” he said.
