40 Acre Land For One-District One-Factory Project

A 40-acre land at Kumi community in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of Ashanti Region has been earmarked for Government’s one-district-one-factory project toward job creation and industrialization.

The project, which is a manifesto pledge of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), is expected to bolster the economic fundamentals of the country.

Nana Kwame Owusu Ansah, regent of the farming community made the land available for use to facilitate the implementation of the project in the Atwima Nwabiagya District.

According to him, the dream and message of the one-district-one-factory resonated with him, hence, his widow’s mite contribution to make it a reality.

Speaking to the media at his palace, the chief said there was the need for the country to create economic opportunities for the teeming youth.

“In this community, many people are unemployed and the rest are under -employed. The men earn a living by weeding on people’s farms while the women sell corn to help feed their families,” Nana Owusu Ansah noted.

In his view, there is a proven relationship between unemployment and teenage pregnancy and hopes the social menace would minimize when the one-district-one-factory project comes on the stream.

“I am giving out these lands with the hope of helping government create employment for my people and the people in the district as a whole,” the chief disclosed.

The traditional ruler said he would welcome any type of factory that would be established in the community, while pointing out that the community is noted for growing oranges and cocoa.
