Jealous Woman Sets Lover Ablaze

A 28-year-old woman, Mena Ekua, is in the grips of the Police at Kwesimintsim, near Takoradi for allegedly setting her boyfriend on fire over misunderstanding last Monday.

The victim, Alfred Amamoo Eshun, 31, and a mechanic, who is popularly called Abeiku, is currently receiving treatment at the Kwesimintsim Hospital while the suspect is in the custody of the Kwesimintsim Police.

Speaking to journalists, Maame Efuwa Ahema, an elder sister of the victim, disclosed that the incident happened around 11:30pm on Monday when her brother was fast asleep.

According to the sister, her brother and the suspect have been in relationship for about 10 years with three kids.

She indicated that as a result of the quarrels, the two lived in different rented rooms in the same house at Apremdo, near Takoradi.

She added that in the evening of Monday, December, 11, 2017, the girlfriend, who suspected the man of dating another lady in the vicinity, laid ambush and sneaked into Abeiku’s room whilst he was asleep.

“She poured liquid suspected to be fuel on the man and set him on fire, resulting in severe burns,” she asserted.

She indicated that some residents rushed to the room upon noticing the thick smoke and rescued the man.

She indicated that all the property in the brother’s room were burnt to ashes.

“The victim is currently receiving treatment at the Kwesimintsim Hospital and the woman is in the custody of the police,” she added.
