NPP Outdoors New Constitution

John Boadu unveiles the reviewed constitution

THE GOVERNING New Patriotic Party (NPP) has unveiled the revised edition of its constitution.

Speaking at the outdooring of the new decument at the party’s Asylum Down headquarters in Accra yesterday, Acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu, said, “The NPP holds the view that this reviewed constitution we are inaugurating today would add the needed impetus to the party’s organizational strength at all levels.”

According to him, “It has been well streamlined and made more effective to directly reflect the exigencies of this moment.”

The revision of the constitution, he said, was in conformity with the relevant constitutional provisions of the ‘elephant party’ (NPP).

“It would be recalled that pursuant to the provisions of Article 18 of the party constitution, an opportunity was afforded members of the party in Ghana and abroad to submit proposals for amendments through the office of the general secretary for onward submission to the national delegates’ conference for consideration,” the acting general secretary averred.

Mr Boadu explained the processes the document went through before arriving at the current one.

According to him, a lot of the Articles in the previous constitution had been amended in various ways – either by new insertions, deletion or alteration.

“Some of the provisions were also streamlined and fine-tuned in order to do away with inconsistencies and enhance readability,” he announced.
