The Jamestown Mantse Oblempong Nii Kojo Ababio V has passed away at the age of 97.
Although he passed away a few weeks ago the transition was announced yesterday in consonance with tradition.
Fondly known in private life as Dentist Kofi the late paramount chief of the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Area was a powerful traditional ruler.
His ancestors had close links with the colonial authorities, the proximity to the Accra harbour and the forts speaking volumes about the bond between them and the British colonial authorities.
One of his public activities took place last year when he bestowed a chieftaincy title upon President Akufo-Addo at the popular Mantse Agbonaa, the grounds overlooking the Ussher Fort where social activities take place.
News about his demise was broken by heads of the two ruling houses and kingmaker of the paramount stool.
Nii Sackey Akumea VI, the acting Dzaasetse of the paramount, who is also head of Wetse Kojo We Stool that broke the news after a ritual, said funeral announcement will be made later.
He indicated that the announcement was jointly undertaken by Nii Klemekuku II of Kofi Akrashie We of Adrenaline Dawurampong and Nii Sackey Akumia VI, acting Dzasetse of the paramount stool and head of Wetse Kojo We of Mantse We, Nii Appiah V paramount stool father, and kingmaker of the Decade, Nii Sampan Kojo XI, Osiahene and head of the kingmaker of the Decade, Bio Sackey Smash V, kingmaker of the Decade of the Ngleshie Alata paramount stool; all heads and kingmakers of the paramount stool.
