AKWANUASAH GYIMAH has been endorsed as the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the Asokwa Municipal Assembly after securing 100 per cent of votes on Monday.
All the 16 assemblymen present, including 10 elected members and six government appointees, voted ‘positive’ to endorse the nominee of the government.
There was a joyful scene at the election venue, which was filled to the brim by New Patriotic Party (NPP) members and family members of Akwanuasah after the results had been announced.
Some of the elated people at the election venue were even seen spraying white powder on Akwanuasah, who made hand gestures to show his appreciation to the assemblymen.
In his acceptance speech, he thanked President Akufo-Addo for nominating him to such an august office.
He promised to work assiduously so that the president’s vision would reflect at Asokwa Municipality, stressing that development was his priority.
He gave an assurance to operate a transparent office noting that flooding, youth unemployment and bad roads, which are the major problems facing Asokwa, would be tackled.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, urged the Asokwa MCE to unite the assembly and also practise transparent administration in order to succeed.
The programme was graced by Asokwa MP, Ms Patricia Appiagyei, Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi and Edmund Kyei, NPP Asokwa constituency first vice chairman.
Mr. Edmund Kyei, who could not hide his joy, commended the assemblymen for voting 100 per cent for Mr. Akwanuasah Gyimah, saying “this shows the president nominated the right person”.
