The old students of Fijai Senior High School in Sekondi have over the years undertaken a number of developmental projects in the school to enhance teaching and learning.
Some of the projects embarked upon by the old students, also known as FOSA, include the rehabilitation of the girls’ and boys’ dormitories, boys’ bathhouse, visual arts block, science laboratories, main girls’ dormitory, junior and senior classroom blocks.
Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, Mr. Kofi Gyetsua Ankuma, a member of FOSA mentioned that the old students had been embarking on bi-annual homecoming events.
“The events are aimed at networking and brainstorming as to how they could give back to their alma mater. This year’s homecoming event is on the theme: Bringing Fijai Back To Its Former Glory”, he added.
FOSA Homecoming 2018 will take place from October 25 to October 28, 2018.
Some of the activities lined up for the celebration include an inspection, handing over of projects, mentoring session with students, bonfire a kenkey party, fundraising ceremony, a dinner-night and thanksgiving ceremony.
He indicated that proceeds realized from every homecoming events were professionally managed and audited for the sake of transparency.
He acknowledged the contributions of all stakeholders whose efforts had made the various projects possible.
He also lauded the immense contributions of the old students and described the gesture as very encouraging and overwhelming.
He pointed out that there were plans to refurbish more facilities in the school and urged the current students to take proper care of the existing facilities.
He indicated that the association would always involve the management of the school in its planning and activities.
