THE ACADEMIC City College, a fast developing university in Ghana, has held its 2nd matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students of the university.
The ceremony took place on the premises of the university at Haatso in Accra on Monday, October 15.
In his address, President of the university, Dr. Fred McBagonluri charged the ‘freshers’ to make good use of their stay in the school to acquire concrete knowledge in their respective chosen fields and courses adding that “knowledge without integrity is of no use”. He encouraged them to be disciplined in order to succeed on the real market.
He also urged them to apply or put to effective use the knowledge they would acquire during their stay in the university, stressing that “knowledge gained without being used is time wasted”.
He said the time has come for Ghana to have indigenous architects who would build our cities. The students should thus study hard and come up with innovations that would put Ghana on the international stage and better the lives of Ghanaians.
Speaking on the courses offered, Dr. McBagonluri said the courses were carefully selected from a wide range of elite universities in and outside Ghana by management. Management also made time to study how those courses were being taught in the universities and their significance in order to give students the right tuition to meet international standards.
The ceremony also had in attendance representatives from affiliate institutions of the university who took time to deliver statements from their respective institutions.
The representatives congratulated the students on making the right choice and taking a step in the right direction. Students and parents were given an assurance that they were in safe hands and should therefore harbour no fears as the university is being mentored by great institutions that have track records of success over the years.
In all, 46 students were matriculated into the Academic City College. The university is affiliated to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) in the Central and Western Regions of Ghana respectively.
The university offers courses in Journalism and Mass Communication, Business Administration and Information Technology and Engineering.
