The corpses of the victims at the scene of the crime
RESIDENTS OF Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region are in shock following the killing of three persons.
The three bodies were found in separate locations in the same area within the municipality.
Police preliminary investigations revealed that the tongues of two of the deceased persons had been removed, while one of them had his eye plucked, heightening suspicion that it was ritual killings.
When contacted by DAILY GUIDE, DSP George Antwi Tanoh, Crime Officer of the Ashaiman District Police Headquarters, said police got information that a dead body had been found at an Apsonic Motor shop at Ashaiman yesterday morning.
He said police investigators got to the scene and they discovered that the security man of the shop, Ibrahim Bagada Smaila, 70, had been murdered and his head covered with his dress and blood oozing from his eyes, nostrils, ears and mouth.
The Crime Officer said the police found the deceased’s phone and torchlight beside the body, and the shop did not appear to have been broken into.
DSP Antwi Tanoh further stated that while the corpse was being carried into a police vehicle, fresh information got to them that another security guard at a Kasapreko warehouse opposite Ashaiman Senior High, which is just about 50 metres from the initial scene, had also been murdered.
He said the police went there and saw a body lying with face covered akin to the first incident. The deceased was later identified as Kobina King, who is also believed to be 70 years of age.
The Crime Officer said critical examination on the body revealed that part of his head organs had been removed and there was no sign of a break in at the Kasapreko warehouse.
He said another piece of information came in that there was a third body at New Talaku, near Ashaiman roundabout. According to the Crime Officer, police rushed to the scene and found one Joshua Afuugu, a 35-year-old man who often sleeps in front of SOFAAMY, a glass shop, dead, with his clothes again used to cover his head.
His eye was removed but the shop was not broken into to suggest any stealing.
DSP Antwi Tanoh mentioned that preliminarily examination conducted at the hospital revealed that both Ibrahim and Kobina had their tongues removed whilst Joshua’s left eye was plucked.
The Ashaiman Police is appealing to the public to assist with credible information to arrest the perpetrators of the heinous crimes.
