The Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Nana Adjei Boateng and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for New Juaben North, Comfort Asante, as well as some chiefs have been attacked by a swarm of bees.
They were holding community engagement at Koforidua – Asokore in the Eastern Region when the bizarre incident occurred.
The bees disrupted the program after the pastor had offered opening prayers at a handing over ceremony of a project to a contractor to upgrade the Asokore Community Center.
The bees moved from their abode in the ceiling of one of the rooms of the dilapidated community center and started attacking the participants, forcing everybody around to seek shelter.
The deputy minister, who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area and the MCE took to their heels into their vehicles, while the chiefs staggered in their cloths for safety.
The bees then descend into the community and attack some residents in the area, forcing many people to lock their shops and rooms.
Four persons, including a 64-year-old man, sustained injuries during the bee attack.
The bees recently attacked some mourners who were holding a funeral at the community centre.
They have made their home in one of the ceilings at the community centre where the municipal NADMO office is located.
Several reports made to clear the place of the bees had reportedly fallen on deaf ears.
