National Association for Television Programming Executives (NATPE) says it will give priority to African content because Africa has great potentials to attracting global traffic.

NATPE is a global content association and professional membership organisation that is dedicated to shaping the future of content through global marketplaces and conferences, screenings, awards, and networking events; all specially curated for the content industry.

On January19 to 22, 2021, it will organise its virtual conference dubbed ‘NATPE Virtual Miami’ in the USA. The same time from January 19 to 29, 2021, it will organise the virtual marketplace which allows content producers to connect.

Becky Bondzie, who is a representative of NATPE Africa, said NATPE intends to help shape content from Africa for global appeal.

“Some of our biggest expectations are: to be more diverse by using our international platform to breakthrough globally. As well, we hope to contribute to reshaping contents produced by Africans, to allow a fair patronage of contents globally. We also intend to draw traffic to Africa movie market to help boost tourism and the overall growth of Africa’s economy,” she told NEWS-ONE.

“Our Target Market is ultimately those that are in the movie industry, specifically: content producers, buyers, sellers, distributors and investors. At NATPE 2021, we look forward to engaging our patrons virtually due to the pandemic. This will not just be an interim plan to engage consumers worldwide, but will also remain an ongoing solution to create an all-inclusive platform for all to participate,” she indicated.

“The benefits allied with joining NATPE are undoubtedly enormous. For one, it enhances business connectivity which helps film industry players to broaden their scope in terms of networking. Secondly, it helps boost the economy of a country due to the image it projects on countries who partake in the event. These countries are given an international platform to market their contents and an international space to appeal to investors worldwide. As well, it is a great networking opportunity for all participants; there is always potential movie collaboration with other countries when these exchanges take place. Additionally, it is a gateway to navigate the global market scene due to the prominence of our year round event. Finally, it is an upmarket platform for content producers, buyers, sellers and distributors to stay interconnected with each other,” she added.
