Factions At MUSIGA Settle Election Feud

Factions in a Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) elections brouhaha have decided to let go of their differences.

This is to present a united front to see to the development of the union and music industry in general.

Since 2019, members of the union have been going through legal tussle over who should lead.

Caleb Appiah-Levi, who is the Greater Accra Regional Chairman, in 2019, filed a suit against the Musicians Union of Ghana over credibility of voters’ register published by MUSIGA for their elections. This has led to different factions.

On Saturday, a statement by Deputy Minister-designate for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey, suggested that there are no more factions at MUSIGA.

According to him, they have settled their differences kind courtesy Tourism Minister.

“Feuding parties within MUSIGA agree to settle differences, election date to be announced soon. Last year, H.E @NAkufoAddo tasked me to ensure that the long-standing internal Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) legal tussle gets resolved,” he tweeted.

“After a number of meetings with interested parties and with the help of my able Minister, Hon. Awal Mohammed, I am happy to announce that a consensus has been reached.

“This week, members agreed to put aside their differences and tabled modalities ahead of the election,” he added.

“MUSIGA is expected to announce the date for their election soon. Present at the fruitful meeting were Bessa Simons, Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi,  Diana Hopeson, Lawyer Kingsley Amoakwah, Perppy Tsahay, Deborah Freeman, Ahuma Bosco Ocansey, Getrude Boamah and other key members,” he concluded.
