REV. PROFESSOR John Frank Eshun, Vice Chancellor of the Takoradi Technical University (TTU), has appealed to alumni of the university to factor in their projects the construction of a hostel to accommodate more students.
He made the appeal on Saturday when he met with the Accra Chapter of the alumni association at the St. Andrews Anglican Church to present the university’s 2021-2025 (5-year) strategic plan to the old students.
The Vice Chancellor, who was accompanied by the Registrar, Dr. Moses Maclean Abnory and Dr. Gabriel Sam Ahinful, the Director of Finance, took the Alumni on an audio-visual presentation of the university to keep them abreast of the current state.
According to the VC, the strategic plan required that the university builds and maintains strong and vibrant alumni through making students aware of the alumni association, providing avenues for interactions and support to both continuing and graduated students, increasing the participation of graduates in alumni activities, strengthening alumni chapters, and organising biennial alumni fundraising dinner.
He also touched on cocktail and awards night for distinguished alumni in industry and society.
The university currently has a student population over 16,000.
“Alumni, everywhere, cater for its own so I expect that you will offer your members business opportunities to enable them contribute meaningfully to the development of the alumni and the university,” he said.
He expressed the university’s appreciation to the alumni for donating computers to support the students.
Reverend Canon Patrick Okaijah-Bortier, President of the Accra chapter of the alumni association, expressed his appreciation to the VC and his entourage for honouring the invitation, though on a short notice.
He pledged the chapter’s support to ensure the university remained top notch.
