ELEVEN BABIES who were born on Christmas Day at Effiankwanta and Essikado hospitals, all in the Western Region, were presented with hampers by MTN Ghana.
The telecoms giant presented the gifts to the nursing mothers as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.
Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Paramount Chief of Essikado Traditional Area in the Western Region, who led the exercise, reiterated the need for women to be accorded the needed respect because even in their weakest moments after delivery, they still smile to everyone.
“How many men have been seen at the ward today? Let us support them to be able take good care of the children who are the future leaders,” he said.
He commended nurses for their hard work and dedication to duty.
Prince Owusu Nyarko, Regional Senior Manager South West of MTN, said the initiative was an annual affair and that MTN commenced baby hampers distribution in 2011.
“So far, over 2,000 hampers have been shared including that of this year,” he noted adding that “the project started with few regions, however, currently all the regions have been included. Today, we are in all 16 regions distributing hampers,” he said.
He explained that the project started with few regions but currently, all the regions have been included.
“In 2021, MTN distributed 500 hampers at a total cost of GH¢150,000 in all the 16 regions across the country.”
Sabina Otoo, a nursing mother, on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to MTN for the support.
