The highly publicised and much-anticipated World Junkanoo Festival has been postponed from the earlier advertised date of March 3 to 6 to August 2 to 4, 2022, according to the organisers.

According to the organisers, the postponement was due to circumstances beyond their control, adding that the foundation has not been able to do intensive marketing of the event.

The foundation also took this decision in consultation with the World Carnival Commission, one of the organisation’s partners to have the festival right before the Boston Carnival which falls in the week after the Ghana Festival.

The foundation wants to use the time from now to reach out to more Afrodescendant groups around the world to amass numbers and support for the festival.

In view of this, the foundation will continue to empower people in the destination areas and also market the festival effectively.

Mr. Vincent Boakye, the International Relations Officer said all parties, institutions, organisations and ministry associated with the foundation should continue to support the project which is aimed at developing a new tourism product.
