The truck at the accident scene
AN ACCIDENT at the Dr. Mensah Market in Kumasi on Sunday led to the death of two people and caused life-threatening injuries to other people.
A speeding cargo truck, which was descending a hill, allegedly failed its break and ran over some people, most of whom were female hawkers.
There were shouts of “danger, danger” as people at the scene raced in different directions to save their lives but unfortunately two got trapped and killed.
The bodies of the dead, whose identities were not known at the time this report was being filed, have since been deposited in a morgue for autopsy.
The injured people, most of whom were females, are responding to treatment in a medical facility in Kumasi.
Eyewitnesses informed this paper that traders at the Dr. Mensah Market, which is close to the Kumasi Central Market, were making brisk business on the day.
