All but three of the incumbent executives of the Ho Central NPP have been voted out at the party’s constituency election on Monday, May 2, 2022.
In all, six incumbent executives including the incumbent Chairman, Richard Kwadepo were rejected by the party delegates in the Ho Central constitution of the Volta Region.
The election was conducted despite a court injunction filed against the process by some seven members of the party who believe they were unlawfully disqualified. Key among them was Prince Agyemang Opoku who was tipped to be the favorite for the position of Chairman.
There was heavy Police presence to allegedly avoid some agitations from the aggrieved parties and ensure law and order of the process which some say, was in contempt of court.
The injunction which was sighted by Daily Guide was served on Friday, April 29 to the party hierarchy, the constituency election committe, and the Police to ensure it is enforced. Despite the injunction, the elections went ahead.
Daily Guide understands that Prince Agyemang Opoku who was disqualified and is party to those who filed for the injunction had his name put on the ballot at the last minute and was informed on it hours to the elections on Monday, May 2, 2022. Thus, he had no opportunity to campaign whatsoever.
This last minute inclusion was after he had declared his support for another contestant of the Chairmanship slot, Frank Ahaze.
At the end of the elections, Frank Ahaze, defeated the incumbent, Richard Kwadekpo to become the Chairman elect. Out of a total of 1,295 delegates, he polled 702 votes representing 62.9% to defeat the incumbent, Richard Kwadekpo who polled 366 representing 32.8% of the total vote cast, and Prince Opoku Amankwah, who polled 39 votes, thus 3.5%.
The incumbent First Vice Chairman, Mawuli Rockson Debra with 552 votes, representing 49.3% lost his position to Bismark Elorm Akuamoaku who garnered 558 votes representing 49.9% against. Boafo Bright, secured the Second Vice Chairman position with 667 votes as against Amevor Ellen’s 437 votes.
Bright Doh retained his Secretary position with a resounding win of 802 votes (72%) as against Castro Owusu-Manu’s 309 votes (27.8%).
