In a recent development, the last flight for this year’s Hajj airlift has been rescheduled to take off on Friday June 23 instead of Thursday June 22, due to logistical reasons.
At an emergency meeting convened by the Ghana Hajj Board, it was decided that the postponement was necessary to ensure that all prospective pilgrims who have paid for the pilgrimage are given the opportunity to be airlifted.
The initial date for the final flight was due for departure on Thursday, but the board deemed it was in the best interest of the pilgrims to push the flight back by a day to allow for necessary preparations. The new departure date falls on the day when prospective pilgrims are expected to report for check-in formalities at the Hajj Village.
The Board acknowledged that the postponement might cause some inconvenience to some of the pilgrims; however, it is necessary to ensure that the mop-up operation is adequately conducted to accommodate all the paid-up pilgrims.
The Board also wishes to inform the general public that the window for fresh applications for this year’s Hajj has been closed at the Hajj Board Secretariat.
This year’s Hajj pilgrimage has already witnessed the airlift of several thousands of pilgrims from Ghana.
The Board has shown a great commitment to ensuring the process is smooth and stress-free for all pilgrims. With the last flight now rescheduled to depart on Saturday, the Board is optimistic that this year’s Hajj will be a success.
