‘Explore Marketing Strategies For Economic Recovery’

The Vice-Chancellor, of the University Of Professional Studies, (UPSA), Professor Abednego Amartey has urged businesses to stay ahead of economic trends by exploring marketing and innovative strategies to reignite the country’s economic growth and prosperity.

According to him, fostering innovation, promoting customer-centricity, adapting to changing consumer behaviours, and leveraging digital technologies, play a pivotal role in revitalizing economies and helping businesses emerge stronger from challenging times.

He made the statement at the 34th Chattered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) Annual National Marketing Performance Awards last Saturday held under the theme, “Marketing: A Tool for Economic Recovery”

Professor Amartey said the aftermath of COVID-19 coupled with other global challenges including the ravages of the Russian-Ukraine war, has resulted in an unprecedented economic setback and downturn hence the urgency for businesses to adopt innovative strategies aimed at facilitating the swift and sustainable economic recovery.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about profound disruption to businesses worldwide. Supply chains were disrupted, consumer behaviour shifted dramatically, and many companies struggled to survive. It is imperative that as a nation, we collectively explore innovative strategies to reignite the economic growth and prosperity of our country” he said.

On his part, the National President of CIMG, Dr. Kasser Tee, entreated businesses to explore the many opportunities marketing presents to improve their operations and return to profitability.

He commended the many companies who have turned their fortunes around by virtue of implementing sound operational programmers and marketing practices, stating that, “marketing should be the bridge between adversity and prosperity, where money and time should be invested as a catalyst for promoting economic resurgence”.

The awards night which witnessed the assembling of industry players within the marketing business space recognized some 35 institutions and individuals for the traditional awards category, 22 recipients for the Ghana Customer Satisfaction Index, and 3 regions, Ashanti, Greater Accra, and Eastern Region for the Ghana Regional Brand Index awards.

David Afflu, CEO of GB Foods, and Patricia Obo-Nai, CEO, of Vodafone were adjourned 2022 Marketing Man and Woman respectively.
