3 Cops Interdicted Over Electoral Disturbances

 

The Ghana Police Service has taken disciplinary action against three of its personnel for their failure to perform their duties professionally during the ongoing Limited Voter Registration Exercise.

According to a police statement, Inspectors Michael Addo and Michael Gyan, as well as Constable Eric Boakye, were interdicted with immediate effect on May 11, 2024.

The statement disclosed that the affected officers, who were in charge of security at the Electoral Commission Office in Adugyama, Ashanti region, failed to properly respond when some individuals attempted to disrupt the voter registration process.

The interdicted personnel will now face the due disciplinary process of the Police Service.

In a separate incident, the Police have also announced the arrest of the Member of Parliament for Asutifi South, Alhaji Collins Dauda, for his alleged involvement in disturbances that occurred at Kukuom in the Ahafo Region during the ongoing voter registration exercise on May 11, 2024.

The police statement revealed that one person sustained an injury and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Authorities also disclosed that they are pursuing other suspects in connection with the Kukuom incident.

These developments underscore the Police’s commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the integrity of the voter registration process.

The public is urged to cooperate with the authorities and refrain from any actions that could disrupt the exercise.
