Fathers also Deserve love

A US based Ghanaian gospel artiste, Gina Idan says the euphoria surrounding the Mother’s Day celebration and the love showered on mothers during its celebration in Ghana should equally be extended to fathers as well.

She said considering the love and support provided by fathers to children, it was important that fathers were not neglected because of some few of them have abandoned their responsibilities and their fatherly obligations, but rather honour them.

She said “When it is Mother’s Day, the hype is huge, and there are many biological and social reasons why Mother’s Day is well hyped and celebrated, but fathers too deserve love from society on Father’s Day as we do for the women and even more”.

Gina, in interview with the DAILY GUIDE said despite the strength and unique physique fathers exude, they were sometimes emotionally weak beings who needed to be supported as parents.

The songstress also stressed on the need for society particularly children to honour their father and mother in order to be blessed and live long as enjoined by the scriptures.

Gina whose talent and love for singing gospel songs spans over a decade will on Father’s Day host scores of music lovers with her maiden single ‘Wo So’, as well as her latest book, “I am Married but I am Single, the other side of Spousal Migration” co-authored with her husband, Rev. Emmanuel Idan.

She further mentioned that the current generation of fathers needed to be supported to enable them to become spectacular parents and do more given the challenges associated with the upbringing of children in a contemporary and an ever changing world of digitalisation.

Gina who is also the host of Thanksgiving Worship, a Christian music event organized to celebrate the Thanksgiving Season in the USA, mentioned that for the first time in Ghana, her nonprofit, Gina Idan Ministries Incorporated based in Atlanta Georgia, is hosting a special Father’s Day edition of Thanksgiving Worship to honour fathers on this year’s father’s Day to thank God for their lives.

The event organized in collaboration with Peace Chapel International and Page 83 Concepts will also feature gospel stars such as Uncle Ato, Kofi Owusu Peprah, Morris Babyface, Gina Idan and several other gospel icons.
