The inaugural Ghana Downstream Awards and Gala Night, held at the Alisa Hotel marked the climax of the two-day Ghana International Petroleum Conference and Exhibition (GHIPCon) and honoured approximately 50 top winners.
Among the winners was licenced marketers and distributor of Shell branded products and services, Vivo Energy Ghana.
The organisation received a special recognition for being a major player in the downstream petroleum sector, championing and setting standards for safety, innovation, and quality.
Vivo Energy Ghana was also applauded for its continued effort to make a positive impact in communities where it operates by implementing long-term sustainable development initiatives.
In a Facebook post by its Corporate Communications Manager, Shirley Tony Kum reaffirmed the company’s effort to prioritise the communities it serves by creating lasting social and economic benefits for these communities and earning their respect and trust.
“At the maiden Ghana Downstream Awards by the industry regulator, National Petroleum Authority, Vivo Energy Ghana (Shell) received a special recognition award for its outstanding contribution to the Petroleum Downstream Sector and as a pioneer in the retail of petroleum products,” the post read.
“We dedicate this award to our customers, employees, and the communities we serve. This is the #VivoWay #ActionNkotsee” it added.
The Downstream Gala and Awards Night is a pioneering awards scheme designed to promote compliance within the petroleum industry and acknowledge individual and institutional contributions to the growth and sustainability of the sector.
By recognising excellence across the downstream value chain, the event aims to inspire higher standards and continuous improvement within the industry.
The awards honored distinguished individuals in Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry for their exemplary leadership and dedication. Additionally, several organisations were recognised for advocating for best business practices in the sector.
