Tottenham Name Igor Tudor Interim Head Coach

Igor Tudor

Tottenham Hotspur have appointed Igor Tudor as interim head coach until the end of the season following the dismissal of Thomas Frank earlier this week.

Frank’s departure comes amid a poor run of form that has left Spurs 16th in the league standings, just five points above the relegation zone, and without a win in their last five matches.

Tudor arrives in north London after a short and turbulent spell at Juventus, where he was relieved of his duties in October 2025. The Croatian had only taken charge in March but left after an eight-game winless run, with the club sitting eighth in the table.

The 47-year-old brings broad managerial experience across Europe, having previously led Lazio, Udinese, Galatasaray, and Hellas Verona. His only major managerial honour to date came with Hajduk Split, where he lifted the Croatian domestic cup in the 2012/13 season.

As a player, Tudor was a commanding defender who spent nine years at Juventus, winning two Serie A titles and starting the 2003 UEFA Champions League final, which the Italian side lost to AC Milan.

Internationally, he represented Croatia and was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 1998 World Cup before retiring early due to an ankle injury.

In a statement announcing the appointment, Tottenham said Tudor’s brief is to quickly stabilise results and lift performances during a crucial stretch of the campaign, citing the need for greater organisation, intensity and competitiveness.

Tudor said he is focused on delivering immediate improvement. He described the role as an honour and stressed his intention to bring structure, energy and consistency to a squad he believes has strong underlying quality.

Several other coaches had been linked with a short-term move, including Edin Terzić and Marco Rose. Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly among the leading long-term candidates, while Roberto De Zerbi, recently departed from Olympique de Marseille, has also been mentioned.

Frank had only taken charge in the summer of 2025 following the exit of Ange Postecoglou, whose tenure delivered a UEFA Europa League triumph but ended after a disappointing league finish. Spurs will now hope Tudor can steady the club and guide them clear of danger before the season concludes.
