Daddy Lumba’s Second Funeral Injunction Case Adjourned

The Late Daddy Lumba and Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu

An Accra High Court has adjourned a case involving an injunction filed to stop a planned celebration of life event for late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba.

Lawyers representing the musician’s family head, Kofi Owusu, members of Daddy Lumba’s immediate family, and gospel musician Papa Shee appeared before the court on March 5, 2026.

The hearing has been postponed to March 23, 2026, to allow both sides to present their arguments.

Lawyers for Daddy Lumba’s immediate family told the media that the planned celebration of life should not pose any problem.

They noted that similar events in honour of the late musician have previously been organised by people outside the family, including in the United Kingdom.

They explained that the current event, being organised by Daddy Lumba’s sister and first wife, had been challenged in court by the family head through an injunction.

Earlier, Papa Shee announced plans to organise a two-day programme titled “The Celebration of the Life of Daddy Lumba”, scheduled to take place in Accra on March 28 and 29, 2026.

According to him, the event would include participation from members of Daddy Lumba’s immediate family who were reportedly dissatisfied with earlier funeral arrangements.

Those expected to attend include the musician’s sister, Ernestina Fosu, his first wife, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, Yaw Opoku, popularly known as Wofa Yaw Opoku, and other members associated with the Team Legal Wives group.
