POLICE HAVE intensified search for the arrest of the suspect who infamously defaced a beautiful drawing on the Asokwa Interchange in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.

Visual Arts students from selected senior high schools (SHSs) in the Ashanti Region have made drawings to beautify the interchange as part of the Ashanti Street Art Festival (AshantiFest) 2026 programme.

A brainchild of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the AshantiFest 2026 is intended to positively showcase the Ashanti Region.

In this year’s AshantiFest, there is a segment where Visual Arts students from the various SHSs in the region have displayed their drawing skills on the Asokwa Interchange.

The students have drawn monumental projects as well as influential Ghanaians who have contributed to the growth of the country, including the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The stunning drawing skills of the students have earned the praise of the public. However, someone, under the cover of darkness, has infamously defaced some of the drawings.

Amoh Kamel, Asokwa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has vehemently condemned the act and described the suspect who defaced some of the drawings as a “nation-wrecker”.

According to him, police have started investigations to arrest the culprit/culprits, saying that “luckily, there is a CCTV here, so we will rely on the footage to arrest the perpetrators.”
