Kwabena Asamoah, flanked by some elders of Afrancho, addressing the media
THE PEOPLE of Afrancho in the Affigya Kwabre South District of Ashanti Region are begging the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to install a chief for their community.
According to them, the Afrancho stool had been vacant for the past 21 years and this had stalled the development of the area ever since.
The concerned youth and elders of Afrancho, led by Kwabena Asamoah, addressing a press conference on Monday, lamented that there had not been any chief to spearhead their concerns for development projects.
He said that because of the absence of a chief, there had been acts of indiscipline, violence, insecurity and rampant sale of community lands, among other negative issues at Afrancho.
He said the vacant Afrancho stool was a real concern that needed to be addressed by the traditional authorities without any further delay.
“We the concerned natives of Afrancho hereby make a passionate appeal to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to urgently install a new chief to promote unity, peace and development for Afrancho,” he said.
According to Kwabena Asamoah, who is a former Assemblyman for Afrancho, the people of Afrancho are grateful to Otumfuo for ensuring the smooth settlements of pockets of chieftaincy disputes in the area.
He, however, reiterated that the people of Afrancho critically needed a chief so that the troubles that had hit the area, especially the indiscriminate sale of public lands and violence, would stop.
