FORMER Minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko has visited some registration centers of the Electoral Commission where the limited voter’s registration exercise took place in the Lower Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region over the weekend.
At Nuaso Newtown where he first visited, he advised the youth who are of voting age to make sure they duly participate in the exercise in order not to be disenfranchised in the coming elections.
He said the voters’ identity cards gives them more power to take active part in the democratic process and discussions in the country.
He entreated them to try as much as possible to learn how to coexist peacefully despite political differences since that is the only way Ghana can deepen its democratic mandate and develop for a better future.
Mr. Agyarko accompanied by the MCE for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, Simon Kweku Tetteh, also met with some volunteers and executive members of the opposition NDC at the Nuaso registration center where they had a friendly discussion before meeting the NPP volunteers at the same center.
Thereafter, he continued to the registration center at Ayemersu R/C School where he also briefly addressed the gathering at the center and ended his tours.
Addressing the media, he applauded the Electoral Commission officials as well as the leadership of the two major political parties in the area for the high level of professionalism and maturity exhibited since the exercise started.
