Akuapem North Municipal Gets 33 Water Projects

THE Akuapem North Assembly in the Eastern Region has begun to construct thirty – three community water systems as part of the Government of Ghana projects throughout the towns and villages in the Municipality to ease the water challenges facing the residents.

The landmark water project forms part of the resolutions passed at the just ended Water, Education, Sanitation and Revenue [WESR] Stakeholders roundtable discussion held at Tutu – Akuapem last week.

Mr. Denis Aboagye, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Akuapem North Assembly speaking to DAILY GUIDE after the ground breaking ceremony for the commencement of the first project at Mampong said, the government has provided new machines to aid the Ghana Water Company to distribute water to every household to ease the water crisis in the municipality.

He explained that, aside the water project which is expected to be completed within two weeks, the assembly had taken other decisions to resolve issues on sanitation, education, and revenue collection that’s  affecting the development of the people of Akuapem.

Background

Representatives of all stakeholders such as; the Council of Churches, the Muslim Community, heads of department, opinion leaders signed onto the document to affirm their commitment to play their respective roles for the realization of the objectives of the forum.

Nana And Sasraku III, Mamfehene and Kyidomhene of Akuapem Traditional Area, at the forum, commended the Municipal Chief Executive and his able lieutenants for organizing the forum which was made up of critical minds all in the effort to deliberate and fashion out the progress of the communities.

The forum was attended by two MPs for Okere and Akropong Constituencies, Dan Botwe and Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah- Adjei respectively. Chiefs from Asseseeso, Apirede, Adukrom, Dawu, Larteh, Mamfe, Amanokrom, Mampong, Tutu, Obosomase, Aboatakyi were also present together with their Queens and other sub-chiefs.
