Leader of Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, says his quest for political power is aimed at bringing economic prosperity to Ghanaians rather than his interest to wield political power.
Alan Kyerematen who said this at the opening of a national Economic Forum held in Accra said the event would help provide solutions to the challenges confronting the country rather than rebating the issues.
“As a politician, it is true that I am fighting for political power, but it is equally true that I am fighting for a noble cause which is to bring economic prosperity to our nation.
“The economic cluster of Great Transformation Plan serves as the working document for our conversation today. The unique feature of this document which will be reflected in the presentations is that it focuses on solutions rather than debating the causes of our problem,” he said.
He believes that dialogue and consensus building would go a long way to guide the country to achieve the GTP agenda.
Participants also discussed macroeconomic issues on policies such as inflation, industrial transformation, how to empower industries among others.
According to him, given the current economic challenges facing the country, it was imperative for all stakeholders to proffer solutions that would help in the economic transformation of the country.
He said though each of the political parties wants to win power, the Movement for Change is interested in building the government of national unity that will hinge on cash and jobs for the citizens.
The summit organised on the theme, “Building non-partisan consensus for a national Economic development plan,” brought together representatives of GUTA, TUC, IEA, economists, businessmen, academia among several others.
