Dignitaries cutting the tape to officially open the new secretariat

The Nii Akwarnor Royal Family, traditional leaders of Ashalaja in the Greater Accra Region has officially opened its customary land secretariat to address land-related issues in the area.

At the official commissioning held last Saturday, the Family headed by Nii Solomon Mintah Ackaah said the secretariat is expected to effectively handle all land administration issues and bring sanity into the land acquisition and management system in the area.

He said the creation of the office has been a long-term vision of the family and was glad it has finally been established.

“The office does not belong to the head of the family but to the people of Ashalaja,” he said.

NII Mintah Ackaah reiterated that among other things, the office shall regularise documents of residents, check and address irregularity of site for township, assist developers to adhere to the proper layout, and address other related issues.

However, he maintained that the office will not handle issues of land litigation in the area.

The celebration was also attended by prominent chiefs and queenmothers of the surrounding towns, Ga Adagme women, members of the council of Zongo chiefs among other dignities.
