Assin South MP Rescues School

Rev Fordjour presenting the items to Mrs Coleman as others look on

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South Constituency of the Central Region, Rev John Ntim Fordjour has over the weekend donated five packets of roofing sheets and 4 sets of street light worth GH¢5000 to Nyankumase Ahenkro D/A Primary and Junior High School (JHS).

The roofing sheets were for the roofing of a 2-unit kindergarten block which was badly affected by rainstorm a few weeks ago while the street lights donated were to be installed to improve visibility in the area at night.

Making the presentation, Rev Ntim Fordjour disclosed that plans were underway to embark on temporary relocation of pupils whose school infrastructures have been assessed to be in hazardous state to safer facilities until such a time when permanent facilities would have been constructed for their safe dwelling.

This pragmatic intervention was expected to avert the unlikely occurrence of casualties which often result in the collapse of dilapidated school buildings in times of heavy storms.

He called for close collaboration with the district director of education, chiefs and religious leaders to ensure that children study in a conducive environment.

The district director of education for the area, Mrs. Sally Nelly Coleman who received the items on behalf of the school, expressed gratitude to the MP for the kind gesture.

She appealed to the headmaster, the school management and the community to assist in ensuring that the roofing of the kindergarten block was done with utmost diligence to withstand heavy storms.
