The Atwima Kwanwoma Under-17 District Football Team has emerged champions of a fiercely contested inter-district football tournament held at Bekwai under the auspices of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene.

The tournament brought together six districts from across the Ashanti Region, with the Atwima Kwanwoma side rising to the top after an impressive display of skill, discipline and teamwork throughout the competition.

The team was led by the District Sports Coordinator, Moses Pewudie, and the team coach, Daniel Badu Dankwa. For their outstanding performance, the champions were rewarded with a set of jerseys, a football and football hose.

Following their victory, the players and technical officials paid a courtesy call on the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly, Grace Agyemang Asamoah.

She commended the team for raising the image of the district and encouraged them to intensify preparations ahead of the national competition.

As a form of motivation, Grace Agyemang Asamoah presented an undisclosed amount of money in an envelope to the victorious team in recognition of their stellar performance.

She urged the players to remain disciplined, focused and committed, assuring them of the Assembly’s continued support.

The DCE noted that sports remains a powerful avenue for youth development and talent nurturing in the district, adding that the Assembly supported the team in diverse ways throughout the tournament, which significantly contributed to their success.

The District Coordinating Director, Muhammed Shaibu, also interacted with the team, advising the players to combine their football careers with serious attention to their academic work. He encouraged them to remain hardworking, determined and resilient as they pursue their football ambitions.

On behalf of the team, Mr. Pewudie and Coach Dankwa expressed appreciation to the District Assembly for its consistent support before and during the tournament. They appealed for further assistance as the team prepares to represent the district at the national level.

The triumph of the Atwima Kwanwoma U-17 side reflects the impact of sound leadership, effective teamwork and sustained investment in youth and sports development in the district.
